Our Partners

My Green Home is led by the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA), with main co-funding from the German government through the South African-German Energy Programme (SAGEN) as part of the bilateral cooperation between South Africa and Germany. SAGEN is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), an international organisation which supports the German government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.

It is also supported by the 49M campaign, the South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI) and Karebo Systems- as well as a range of product sponsors, partner organisations and collaborators – see Partner page and Sponsored Products page for more detail. Sponsors provided equipment and services for the Ngewana home and prizes. Please note however that what works in one home may not apply to another, and that My Green Home and the GBCSA do not certify or endorse products.

Making a Difference, Day by Day

The primary focus of My Green Home is on energy efficiency, as it’s the main interest of the major funder of this project. However, water and waste and other green-related issues are also addressed. The actions suggested on this website are deliberately not an ‘exhaustive’ list of all possible ‘tips’. We have focused on the few things which can make the most difference. But of course all the little things do add up, and so we encourage everyone to do everything they can at home. This is part of establishing a more sustainable ‘way of doing things’ in our homes, and giving our children the opportunity to grow up with this as part of their daily routines and culture.
